AI SUNDAY · PRE-READ

Before Sunday: what to do, and ten minutes to read

Nothing here is homework you can fail. It is a short checklist, a plain-language read, and three small things to try, so you arrive knowing what to expect and what to bring (a laptop and charger are required: a phone or tablet will not work). The day is for adults (18 or older), students and working professionals, who are new to Claude.

1. Do these before Sunday

  1. Fill in the “Knowing You” form

It takes about two minutes and tells me who will be in the room, so the day fits you rather than a generic crowd.

    Open the form →

  2. Create a free Claude account (optional, saves time)

Go to claude.ai and sign up with the same email you registered with. Doing it beforehand means no sign-up queue on Sunday morning. You do not need to pay for anything: your Claude Pro month is arranged for you (see section 5).

  3. Have a look at your handouts

Every session has a step-by-step handout, in a student version and a working-professional version. Log in with the email you booked with, open the one that suits you, and skim the first one. You do not need to do anything in them before the day.

    Open the handouts →

  4. Think of one real task (optional)

An assignment, a report, a message you keep putting off. The exercises use practice material we provide, so you do not need to bring anything, but having a real task in mind helps you see where each tool fits.

  5. Pack your laptop and charger (required), and carry your photo ID

Your own laptop and its charger are required: a phone or tablet will not work for the exercises. Also bring a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, driving licence, passport, or a college or employee ID with photo) showing the same name you registered with. Entry is based on the ID, and your certificate carries the name exactly as you registered it. We only look at the ID; we do not copy or keep it. A notebook if you like writing by hand. There is nothing to install.

  6. Arrive by 8:45am

We start at 9:00 sharp and finish at 5:00pm. The form also asks for any dietary preference, for lunch, so please fill it in beforehand.

2. A ten-minute read

What an AI assistant actually is

An AI assistant such as Claude is a program that has read an enormous amount of text and learned the patterns in it. You write to it in everyday language, and it writes back something that fits the pattern of a helpful answer.

That is useful, and it is also the reason to be careful. It does not look things up the way a search engine does, it does not know you, and it can sound completely sure while being wrong. Think of a quick, well-read helper who has never met you and sometimes guesses. You are still the one in charge of the work.

Good at, and careful with

  • Good at: explaining something in simpler words, turning rough notes into a clean draft, suggesting options when you are stuck, summarising a long text you paste in, checking your writing for clarity.
  • Good at: playing a role so you can practise, such as an interviewer, a customer, or a tough reviewer.
  • Careful with: facts, figures, dates and quotes. Check anything that matters against a real source.
  • Careful with: anything personal or confidential (see below), and anything where a wrong answer has real consequences, such as health, legal or money decisions.

Five words you will hear on the day

  • Prompt: what you type to the assistant. A good prompt is mostly a clear request.
  • Model: the AI system underneath. Claude is one; there are others.
  • Context: everything the assistant can see in this conversation, including what you pasted in. It does not remember you between separate conversations unless a tool is set up to.
  • Hallucination: when an assistant states something false in a confident tone. The fix is to check, not to trust the tone.
  • Data privacy: what happens to what you type. Treat the chat as something you would be comfortable having a stranger read.

How to ask well: four parts

Most weak answers come from thin requests. A request with four parts works far better than a one-liner.

  • Who you are and the situation: “I am a final-year student applying for a first job in marketing.”
  • The task: “Rewrite the summary at the top of my resume.”
  • What good looks like: “Three sentences, plain words, no buzzwords, confident but honest.”
  • Your limits: “Do not invent any experience I have not told you about.”

Keep these out of the chat

  • Passwords, one-time codes, card or bank details, and anything with an Aadhaar, PAN or passport number.
  • Other people's private details: their numbers, addresses, health, or anything they told you in confidence.
  • Confidential documents from a job or college that you are not allowed to share.
  • When in doubt, change the names and numbers first, or leave it out.

3. Three warm-ups, if you have the time

Each takes about five minutes and works on the free plan. Skip any you like.

5 MINUTES
Test it on something you know

Ask the assistant to explain a topic you know well, in three sentences. Then mark what it got right, what it got wrong, and what it left out. This is the quickest way to learn how far to trust it.

5 MINUTES
Make your own writing better, on your terms

Paste a short paragraph you wrote and ask for three specific suggestions to improve it. Accept one, reject two, and say why. The point is to practise being the editor, not the audience.

5 MINUTES
Ask the same question twice

Ask the same question in two separate conversations and compare the answers. You will see how much of the answer is steady and how much changes, which is exactly why you check.

4. Where and when

91Springboard, Panjim — Shanta Building, 18th June Road, Santa Inez, Panjim. Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Please arrive by 8:45am.

5. Your month of Claude Pro

Your seat includes a month of Claude Pro. On the morning of your session we will email you how to claim it. Most of the day uses features that need a paid plan, so please claim it before we start at 9am. Use the same email address you registered with.

If you already pay for Claude, especially through a phone app, tell us before Sunday and we will sort out what to do so you do not lose out.

Quick questions

Can I use my phone or tablet instead of a laptop?

No. A laptop and its charger are required. The exercises involve files, copying and pasting and several windows at once, which do not work properly on a phone or tablet. If you cannot bring a laptop, write to us before Sunday.

Do I need to know anything about computers or coding?

No. If you can write a message, you can do everything on the day. You will not write any code. In the last session you watch Claude Code build a small tool, and your handout shows how to try it yourself later.

What if I do not do any of the preparation?

You will still be fine. The form helps me shape the day and the Claude account saves a little time, but everything else is covered on Sunday.

Is anything here a promise of results?

No. AI tools are useful and imperfect, and results depend on you and the task. The day is about learning to use them with good judgement.

I am under 18. Can I come?

No. AI Sunday and aipraveen.com are for adults only. You must be 18 or older.
